Everybody’s sleep position is different. Hence, their needs are also different.

Back Sleepers
You need a pillow that will support your upper spine. A pillow with medium firmness would be the best choice.

Side Sleepers
Your pillow should support your head and neck so that your spine remains straight. A firm pillow would be best for you.

Stomach Sleepers
Your pillow should be relatively flat so your head and neck aren’t turned unnaturally to either side. A soft pillow would likely be the best way to go.
